Flight Radar 24 – бесплатное приложение для слежения за тысячами авиарейсов по всему миру в режиме реального времени (ну, почти, на самом деле минимальный интервал обновления – 15 секунд). Однозначный “мастхэв” для тех, кто не может ни спать ни есть, пока самолет с сыном/дочерью/мужем/женой/мамой/папой не коснется шасси ВПП пункта назначения. Программа позволяет в любой момент времени узнать, где именно находится авиалайнер и посмотреть его текущее положение на карте Bing. Совершенно непонятно, почему разработчики не реализовали поиск рейса по его коду. Учитывая, что над Европой кружат сотни самолетов одновременно, найти именно тот, который нужен, часто бывает непросто – в желтой самолетной “каше” иногда не видно поверхности земли. В европейской, а тем более азиатской части России, трафик гораздо менее плотный. 
Второй негативный момент – склонность программы к зависанию, случается, что карта перестает реагировать на ваши действия, а кнопки при этом продолжают нормально работать. Лечится такое поведение перезапуском приложения, также можно просто подождать – некоторые слабые устройства с трудом прокручивают большие объемы информации. Для того чтобы выбрать самолет, достаточно тапнуть по нему. При этом откроется окно с изображением именно этого лайнера, дополненное детальной информацией по нему, включая позывной, регистрационный номер, модель, название авиакомпании, пункт отправления и прибытия, а также некоторое количество телеметрии (координаты, текущая высота, скорость, курс). В настройках вы можете указать интервал обновления данных. Для медленного интернет-подключения лучше выбрать трехминутный или же по запросу, так вы существенно сбережете трафик. Тут же можно активировать привязку по GPS для того, чтобы приложение после запуска показывало карту вашего района, но не забывайте, что это сильно садит батарею. Программа хороша прежде всего своей идеей, но реализация ее на практике подкачала. Если вы сидите у компьютера, нет смысла наблюдать за рейсами через смартфон, сайт Flight Radar 24 дает несравнимо больше возможностей. Но в том случае, если единственное “окно” в интернет – через смартфон, то Flight Radar 24 может однажды пригодиться.

Flightradar24, an app that lets you watch flight traffic from around the world, has a new free version. The ad-supported app carries over many of the features of the paid app, and radar coverage around the world. Flightradar24 lets you watch planes move in mostly real time. You can also get some information about individual flights, such as flight number and callsign of an aircraft. Flightradar24 has an augmented reality view on some devices which allows you to see what flights are above you by pointing your device’s camera at the sky. You can also search for flights to see where they are, and browse images of most aircraft. The app has access to data from all over the world. It has complete coverage of the U.S. and Canada using FAA data, including real-time data over large swaths of both countries. Most of Europe is covered as well. Flightradar24 also has data from several other countries, including Russia, Australia, and Brazil. You can download Flightradar24 Free from the Windows Phone Store right now.
