This began when I started monitoring these systems with OpenNMS. No changes were made to the servers themselves — OpenNMS is a self-contained application running on a separate host. All affected servers are running SNMP Informant. We were previously collecting data via Cacti with no errors, but OpenNMS queries many more OIDs out of the box than Cacti. Servers running SP1 are not affected. I have not been able to manually reproduce the error, even by doing a full snmpwalk. This happens no more than once a day per server, but not necessarily every day and not at the same time each day. I’ve tried unloading and reloading the performance libraries with unlodctr and lodctr (followed by a reboot), as well as forcing trusts with lodctr /T, but this has not yielded any change. I’m baffled. Any help is greatly appreciated. -HKS

Hi, According to my research, these might be generated by Performance Monitor Extensions. They are harmless for our system. However, it floods our Event log. Therefore, to work around this issue, add the following registry key that prevents Performance Monitor from testing data buffer alignment errors:

When I do this, It will fix my problem but two days later the error’s return…
1.) Open a CMD via run as admin
2.) enter
C:Windowssystem32lodctr.exe /R
and then
C:WindowsSysWOW64lodctr.exe /R
If you get the error «Error: Unable to rebuild performance counter setting from system backup store, error code is 2» repeat step 2.
3.) Now re-registers the computer´s performance libraries with the following :
C:WindowsSystem32wbemwinmgmt.exe /RESYNCPERF
C:WindowsSysWOW64wbemwinmgmt.exe /RESYNCPERF

Broken dll files after full reinstall of windows 1- I am trying to launch a program called Magic the Gathering Online. When I attempt to launch it, the initial splash screen pops up but the main client fails to launch. When checking the event viewer at this point, nothing shows up. I am able to close the

I am performing a monitoring task on my 64bit web server which has couple of applications pools running in 32bit mode. I am using .Net CLR Memory object in perfmon to monitor them. However, my performance monitor shows 0 for everything except GC handles and # of sink blocks in use. The rest application pools are working fine. On another server configured in the same exact way (32bit app pools running on 64bit IIS), WMI doesn’t even enumerate all of my w3wp instances.
Is there anybody have any thoughts on these issues? Or are there tools that can monitor the 32 bit application pool running on 64 bit platform instead of using the built-in Performance monitor?
In addition, on the server which WMI doesn’t enumerate all the w3wp instances, we have the following three error messages in the event log.
- The configuration information of the performance library «C:WINDOWSsystem32aspperf.dll» for the «ASP» service does not match the trusted performance library information stored in the registry. The functions in this library will not be treated as trusted. (Event ID 2003, Source Perflib)
- The configuration information of the performance library «C:WINDOWSsystem32inetsrvw3ctrs.dll» for the «W3SVC» service does not match the trusted performance library information stored in the registry. The functions in this library will not be treated as trusted.(Event ID 2003, Source Perflib)
- The configuration information of the performance library «C:WINDOWSsystem32infoctrs.dll» for the «InetInfo» service does not match the trusted performance library information stored in the registry. The functions in this library will not be treated as trusted.(Event ID 2003, Source Perflib)
- Performance counter data collection from the «ASP.NET_2.0.50727» service has been disabled for this session due to one or more errors generated by the performance counter library for that service. The error(s) that forced this action have been written to the application event log.(Event ID 1018, Source Perflib)
These errors might related to my issue. It still appears even when I re-register all the .dll files in the wbem directory. Does anyone know what these error messages mean and how can I fix them?
In addition for the first server with 0 value in .Net CLR Memory object, there is no error message in the event log.

To execute this command, you have to run Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Start the command line as an administrator in Windows by pressing the Win key on your keyboard and typing «Command Prompt» in the search field, then — right-click on the result and select “Run as administrator”. Alternatively, you can press the Win + X key combination which will open the menu where you can select Command Prompt (Admin).
- Type sfc /scannow while in Command Prompt and hit Enter. After entering the command, a system check will begin. It will take a while, so please be patient. Once the process is complete you will see this message: “Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.” or “Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them”.
Keep in mind that System File Checker (SFC) cannot fix integrity errors for those system files that are currently being used by the operating system. To fix these files you have to run SFC command through the command prompt in the Windows recovery environment. You can get into Windows Recovery Environment from the login screen by clicking Shutdown, then holding down the Shift key while selecting Restart.
In Windows 10, you can press Win key, select Settings > Update & security > Recovery and under Advanced Startup, click Restart now. You can also boot from the installation disk or bootable USB flash drive with the Windows 10 distribution. On the installation screen select your preferred language and then select “System Restore”. After that, go to “Troubleshooting” > “Advanced Settings” > “Command Prompt”. Once in Command Prompt type the following command: sfc /scannow /offbootdir=C: /offwindir=C:Windows, where C is the partition with the installed operating system and C:Windows is the path to the Windows 10 folder.
This operation will take a while and it is important to wait until it is complete. When finished, close the command prompt and restart the computer as usual. You should find that the w3ctrs.dll missing error is gone.
Method 6: Fix the corrupted w3ctrs.dll file by performing a System Restore
System Restore is very useful if you want to fix w3ctrs.dll error, or almost any other error. - The “System Restore” window may include the “Choose a different restore point” option. If so, select this option and click Next. Check the “Show more restore points” checkbox to see a complete list of dates.
- Click the «Next» button and then click «Finish» to confirm your restore point. At this point, your computer will reboot normally and boot up with a restored version of Windows, and the w3ctrs.dll error should be resolved.
